Sometimes during hard acceleration my JRSC 99 civic si experiences lag during low rpms. mainly from 1st through 3rd gear. Im running on stock boost and recently changed my belts. I wanted to know what are all the signs of belt slippage. Also how do you measure belt tension.

Watch the boost gauge for erratic readings and listen for strange noises.

I bought my autometer ultralite boost/vac gauge used and it sits at 2 vac hg in when the engine is shut off. I always thought my boost gauge was jacked up due to a possible vacuum leak or maybe the gauge or needle itself was just f@cked up. It only reads almost to 5 psi during wot (civic si stock boost is 6). Also my psi starts dropping around 4k at wot from 1st through 3rd. 4th gear from 4.5k to 5k is when it happens. 5th gear is fine, boost all the way (only at almost 5psi according to the gauge). The erratic behavior of the readings and loss of power makes me wonder if it is belt slippage. I just also thought that it was the natural behavior of the JRSC. It sure doesnt drive the way I first had it.

Belt slippage on stock boost is due to loose belts, right? If it is belt slippage then, how do I measure belt tension.

gauge needs to be recalibrated. You can send in to autometer.

Alot of time they get out of wack because of poor handling during shipping etc.
